Day 3 of the challenge.
Shin forrest! I thought was going to be a little easier than the day before. I was wrong! It was a day of really tough climbing again. Alot of uphill, and not much down. I would be beside a beautiful river in minute, and the next after wheeling a huge amount of hills, I'd look back and see the river was off a cliff edge. I apparently logged my steepest climb ever!
It was really tough again. The same elements as the day before but then put on top of that cold, and rain! Rain is so dangerous when wheeling. When wheeling on a flat your hands slip on the pushrims. On a hill, you have to grab hold for dear life, and hope that you don't slip, or you roll backwards! So I grabbed hold, whilst climbing some unbelievable mountains. The rain came down so hard. I was freezing cold and not stopping to go to the loo or drink enough. Which took its till in the end. I got to 40km, and had to stop! I was only 2km before I was due to finish for the day.
I hate that I stopped! I did not hydrate or fuel as well as I should have. It's a learning curve! But I felt awful. I was so cold 🥶 Shaking. Could hardly hop to the car. Neil helped me, which ordinarily I wouldn't have let him, but I had no choice. I was exhausted, and frozen solid and soaking wet.
We drove to Laird guest house. It was 30 mins from where I was due to begin the next day. We are staying there for 2 nights, which is nice. I have alot of kit. I can't carry it on my own, so have to rely on Cat and Pam to help. It was nice, because Neil is staying in the same place as us. So far, he has been in other places. It's not right. I don't like that he doesn't have accommodation in some places. It's not right. The whole support team are doing a fantastic job, and are working really hard to make sure this is all done right. They're taking videos, doing paperwork, and ensuring that the event runs smoothly. I am very fortunate to have such a great team. Such great friends. ❤️
The evening was my tough time. I had to have my medication to make my bowel work! Yep, another over share. But this makes life rather tricky when your an endurance athlete. It makes me hugely dehydrated and very sick. I also, can't eat until.it has done its job! So that's not great when you've just wheeled another marathon! But it's necessary. So I ended up in my lovely hotel room on my own. Fortunately the lovely owner let Cat bring me some food

up to the room, so I could have it as soo as I could. Which meant I ate cold salmon, and new potatoes! But it was still nice.
The hotel is quite nice. Functional and clean. The owner is very lovely as well. 😋
