Day 3 - In John O'groats Guest house π
Today began after a fairly good night's sleep for me. It's me, my wife, Cat and Pam sharing one room for these two nights. Good job we all get on well. It's actually been lovely being here. The owners are so friendly. The guest house is quaint, but really nice. Modern with better WiFi than I have at home. And contrary to what I expected, and apparently this is a popular myth, Scotland isn't that cold, and the sun was out today more than at home!
My day began with my od of bowel meds! What joy! π€£ So laying with a bucket next to me, whist the others went to breakfast, was not much fun. I suppose, I'm sort of used to it. It's never much fun though. But needs must! π So when that had done it's thing, I had a lovely interview on BBC radio Devon. The presenter, Caroline, was great. It was really good fun. Hopefully people liked it!
The gang went into John O'groats town. They had a nice coffee, and cake and Neil and Cat had a special whiskey at a tasting place. Cat baught me back a magnet for our collection. I've always gotten one wherever we go.
It was all go today. We then went onto sorting the van out so they we have all kit ready for tomorrow. Then onto videos and testing of kit. It's all very glamorous! But it was for something I've never heard of, arranged by the amazing, Paul Morgan. A thunderclap, which was set of 6pm. Where everyone who could possibly share something about the challenge, did. I have no idea how many people shared things, but it seemed to be quite a few, which was incredible π
Just after, Steve, his wife, Helen and Barry arrived from ALF. It was so great to see them. Helen and Barry are Aaron's parents who, with Steve, set up the Aaron Lewis Foundation in 2009, when he was killed. It is such a heartbreaking story. But such good has come from their courage. The charity has helped me, personally so much. And I know it has helped countless more. It's all volunteer led, and all the money goes directly to help people. I'm just hoping that i can bring in a good amount of pennies for them. The smaller charities really help people directly, yet don't often get big donations. I'm hoping th change that!
Then it was time for tea and Neil had kindly gotten me some frozen pizzas the day before. It's what I often have the day before wheeling. So great to keep things the same. I've tried to do that as much as I could, and will hopefully be able to fuel in a similar was in used to.
I think I sent everyone into a panic when I lumped them with all the guiness world records rules. It does seem a bit daunting, but once we get going, hopefully it won't be too difficult.
So I'm off to sleep in a min. I'm very tired. But rather nervous as well. Sat watching Deep Blue Sea on Netflix. Paying absolutely no attention to it really. I will finish talking to you, and attempt to get some sleep! Tomorrow is just another training day! Just another training day !! πͺ
